Georgina

I started The Old Wash House blog in September 2011 as one person’s journey towards reducing her impact on the environment. It’s a slow journey of many steps, but the process is thought-provoking, fulfilling and quite exciting! I come from a position of knowing very little about upcycling, gardening etc so everything I post about is a new experience and I’d like to think that if I can do it, it might inspire you to have a go too.
By day I work in Corporate Responsibility. By night I tinker around the house and garden unencumbered by children, but quite cumbered (if that’s even a word) by a manic Collie x Jack Russell, Tess. I love the outdoors and am an enthusiastic climber.
My posts revolve around gardening, growing my own veg, changing something fairly useless into something useful and trying to keep Tess off the lawn.
Jonathan

I live within spitting distance of The Old Wash House. I am a qualified horticulturist where by day I try to improve London’s gardens, and by night I try to improve my own large garden, an allotment, a wife and three young children.
I am flattered that the proprietor of The Old Wash House asked that I try to keep the pirate ship afloat while she swanned off to Australia for a holiday that some people might say is just a bit too long.
I hope to continue to combine my enthusiasm for plants and the natural world, with my children’s perspective on the things I am interested in. I am also a keen cook, so expect some food chat. All of this will inevitably be sprinkled with sarcasm and mindless smart arse remarks, which I can’t seem to help.
Tess

Tess is The Old Wash House dog. She is a five year old rescue Collie x Jack Russell. She turned her big brown eyes on Georgina at seven months old and the rest, as they say, is history. She doesn’t write many posts (she’s a dog) but she insinuates herself into most of them, somehow. She’s just pretty insinuatory all round really.
Words regularly used to describe Tess: manic, hyper, lawn-wrecker, jumper-of-fences, super-affectionate cuddle tart.
She doesn’t really like ducks that beat her up or having showers when she’s rolled in something unmentionable.
Her favourite things include running, jumping, getting into beds when she is not allowed to, making sure no birds land in the garden EVER, having big cuddles and eating juicy spiders.
If you want to read more about why the blog was set up, you can do that here. The Old Wash House has an ever-growing band of followers on Twitter, so please join in! If you want to get blog posts direct to your inbox, you can subscribe via email below.
